“Propolis is a chemically complex sticky “glue” collected from beehives. It contains resins collected from the buds and leaves of plants, volatile oils, and wax. The exact composition of propolis varies from hive to hive and from season to season, depending on the plants available to the bees for making their honey, propolis, and royal jelly.”
“When scientists have looked closer at the exact chemical composition of propolis, they have found that it actually contains over 300 natural compounds, including amino acids, coumarins, phenolic aldehydes, polyphenols, sesquiterpene quinines, and steroids. In general, raw propolis is made up of approximately 50% resins, 30% waxes, 10% essential oils, 5% pollen, and 5% of various organic compounds.”
